The Stinger GT shares its platform and Lambda II 3.3T V6 with the Genesis G70. Kia priced it as a sports sedan competitor to the BMW 3 Series and Audi A5 Sportback, and mostly delivered.

Why it's on this list

Genuine sports sedan performance (0-60 in 4.7s) with Korean reliability improving significantly by 2018-2023. IIHS Good ratings. The 5-door hatchback body is genuinely practical.

The honest trade-offs

19" staggered tires cannot be rotated and cost ,400-1,800/set. Insurance for a 25-year-old male is ,640/yr, the single largest line item. Poor rear visibility. The console hinge cracks on virtually every example.

What to buy and what to avoid

2020-2023 for the refreshed exterior and resolved early issues. GT2 trim for the upgraded Brembo brakes and limited-slip differential. The insurance math changes dramatically for buyers over 30. Recalculate before dismissing.
